The SC Business Licensing Officials Association recently awarded five individuals working for cities and towns across the state with the Accreditation in Business Licensing designation.

These individuals include Nathan Campbell, business license manager for the City of Aiken; Michelle Paulchel, business license coordinator for the City of Cayce; Dante Roberts, code enforcement officer for Richland County; Justin Rose, business license administrator for the City of Beaufort; and Lawrence Willoughby, business license field representative for the City of Myrtle Beach.

To qualify for the ABL certification, recipients had to meet BLOA's high educational, experience and service requirements. These requirements include completing a three-year training program and passing the ABL exam. BLOA offers a higher level of certification in this field through the master's in business licensing program. The ABL designation assures businesses and the public of a city official's commitment to professionalism, knowledge and fairness in administering the city's business license tax.

The SC Business Licensing Officials Association, an affiliate of the Municipal Association of South Carolina, helps municipal business license officials remedy the problems associated with administering and enforcing the local business and professional license tax. The Association addresses these issues through multiple statewide and local training sessions, the members" listserve and its two certification programs.
